This research aims to analyze the effect of governor instability on the performance of diesel generator No. 3 in MV. Lumoso Jaya. The governor functions to regulate the stability of engine rotation and the amount of fuel supplied, so its role is very crucial in maintaining efficiency and
generator performance. The method used in this research is a case study with data collection through direct observation and measurement of generator performance parameters, such as engine speed, fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. The research results show that governor instability can cause fluctuations in engine speed, which has a negative impact on fuel efficiency and increases exhaust emissions. In addition, the analysis shows that routine repairs and maintenance on the governor system can minimize these negative impacts, so that diesel generator performance can be improved. It is hoped that this research can contribute to the development of technology and engine maintenance management in the shipping industry, as well as increasing competition for shipping resources in Indonesia
